If only that were the end of things gone wrong, but it was only the beginning! Gabe has asthma, and we have been aware of it since he was very little. An asthma attack for Gabe is generally set off by some kind of cold or allergies, so we're always on the look out when he gets sick--as a side note, it is a terrifying feeling, listening to your child wheeze when trying to breathe. Anyway, so, of course, Tyrone had been here less than 24 hours when Gabe started wheezing. And it got worse quicker than any other time to date. Mom kept Kaleb for us (thank you!) and we took Shiloh with us and got Gabe to the urgent care clinic.
I was soooo glad we went when we did, in the waiting room, he was sounding absolutely horrible, and getting worse by the minute. And then, I looked at his little hands, and his nail beds were getting pale, that had NEVER happened before. They called us back and checked his oxygen saturation, and it was down. That was something else that had never happened before. One reading gave us as low as 89%, and going down...
They gave Gabe a breathing treatment, some steroids, and sent him home with a new inhaler, and he was fine, but woo! was that scary, and I am soooo thankful that I didn't have to deal with it by myself!
But wait, there's more!! Remeber how we brought TC, Tyrone's sister, home with us Mon. evening? We were going back to Statesboro on Tuesday, so it was no big deal, and she HAD to be back for a very important appointment by 3....Well, it was no big deal until something broke in the upper intake manifold of the truck, in turn cracking the radiator!!! We had to put TC in a taxi for the hour long ride back to Statesboro! Eek!
BUT, IT GETS BETTER!!! We called a tow truck to come take the Tahoe to the service center, and they came. However, the tow truck guy was unfriendly, and pretty much downright rude...fine. But, he was so busy talking on his cell phone that he hooked our CV axle, and tore open the boot on it! grrr...... (they did end up fixing it, but that ended up adding about another 36 hours onto our time that it took to get the truck back.)
And, you would think that would be it, wouldn't you? Well, I'm not done yet!! The next day I went to wash a load of clothes, and our washing machine pretty much exploded...it started walking across the floor (really, it got like a foot out!), threw a belt, and snapped the piece the belt attaches to! This is kinda funny in retrospect, but we had to hook up the garden hose to the washing machine hose, and run it from the laundry room, through the kitchen and then the dining area, and out the back door to drain the washing machine.
Now comes the good part. Tyrone was here for all of these things! He lightened my load so much, he just swooped in and handled stuff! How much I had missed that feeling! He took care of me when I was sick, helped with Gabe's asthma attack (Tyrone has asthma, so he understands what poor Gabe is going through), took care of getting the truck fixed, AND....drum roll please....he bought me a brand new washer and dryer!!!! How awesome is my husband?!
Guess what else he did? He bought Shiloh the crib that I have been drooling over for her since November!!! I am soooo excited, I even have a huge grin on my face as I write this. He fixed my computer, which had been acting up, he helped me find somewhere closer to home that sells the crickets that I need to feed Kaleb's toad, he cooked for us, I could go on forever!!!
I am sorry for Tyrone that so many things had to be "handled" when he was home, but I feel incredibly blessed to (1) have a husband so extremely capable of taking care of us and (2) not have had to handle all these things by myself. With him here, they were annoyances. By myself, they would have been catastrophes!
Thank you, Tyrone!!
Little missy's new bed!!
Isn't it great!?
