twister

Twister with the kids is an insanely fun pastime. The boys think it's awesome, and the physical aspect is especially great for Gabe. They keep me in stitches!

Shiloh, while not quite big enough to play, is the official "spinner" and takes her job quite seriously

Emmeline tries to copy the boys!

Baking cookies with my daughter, watching her use her great-great-grandmother's (Red Grandma) rolling pin.

christmas cookies

The day before Christmas eve we decorated close to 100 cookies (that Shiloh and I had baked the day before) with Heather, Vinny, and Mckayla. The kids had so much fun!

We met Santa...

...when he came around to say hi, riding around with the MPs. Everyone but Emmeline was thrilled, check out her expression!

Christmas in Afghanistan

Christmas

We had a nice, quiet Christmas. We missed Tyrone very, very much.

Christmas Eve, new pajamas!

Christmas morning, "SANTA BROUGHT ME A NINTENDO DS!!!"

Looking through all the Santa presents

Shiloh was soooo excited about EACH little thing in her stocking, it was adorable. And slow! I had to help her along, lol

Emmeline loved her new things!

Time to unwrap the presents under the tree

The big presents from Tyrone and I to the older 3 were VTech Kidizoom Cameras. They are "kid tough" and have photo editing and games built in, and internal storage for 400 pictures. They are having a ball with them, it's like the paparazzi live here!

being artsy and Christmasy

Sunday, December 19, 2010

Some of the stuff we've been up to lately...

Kaleb had his Christmas concert, and did are really fantastic job!

While Dawn and Josh were here, we made crayons with Kaleb's new crayon maker (bday present from Grandma and Mr. William!)

And we made a gingerbread village!

And, today, we went sledding and then painted Christmas ornaments and had fudge (that the kids and I made last night) and hot chocolate with Heather, McKayla, and Vinny.

We are having a wonderful, Christmasy time!

Kaleb's 9th birthday!

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Kaleb turned 9 on the 12th! It is unbelievable! We are amazed at the person he is becoming, and it is so fun to watch him grow in his interests, and mature in so many ways. He remains our kind-hearted, sometimes quiet, deep thinker. He is extremely trustworthy with his little sisters, and the ultimate friend/tormentor to his little brother. He is a wonderful companion, I love having alone time with him, listening to what he has to say....he is a smart cookie. Happy birthday, K!

We had a party for him at the skating rink last Sat., our wonderful friends Dawn and Josh even drove up from PA to be there for it! Also, several other friends from our street were there, along with a couple of Kaleb's classmates and their parents.

Shiloh loves to dance, and did so pretty much the entire time! She didn't venture out on the hard floor in her skates but she did well on the carpet!

Kaleb skated long and hard, and had a ball being a "big kid" with his school friends, and having this be all about him!

Dawn spent the majority of her time on "Emme duty" which was a wonderful thing for me, as I was able to focus on the birthday boy and party details!

McKayla and Shiloh are good friends!

WORN OUT!

Happy and tired

Gabe, as usual, is a pro at anything requiring athleticism. In the background, Heather is helping Shiloh skate!

THE cake! Transformers are awesome and it was a hit!

Opening the presents!

Nerf gun envy!

Practice!

Back at home, we opened family presents, and this was the one we'd been waiting on, it is all he's talked about for months! Kaleb now has his own skateboard (and helmet and pads)....he's a happy boy!

It was a good day!
