I hadn't really made up my mind, keep her, or find her a home. She seemed to be doing okay, until 6 days later. I went to get her because she had been sleeping more then normal, and I found her pretty much in a coma....she was hypothermic, I thought she was dead. I couldn't tell if she was breathing. I called Tyrone, he raced home from work, and we took her to the vet. She was still alive, but barely. She got IV fluids, spent the night in the incubator, and had lots of tests.
It turns out that she was probably only about 3 weeks old and weighed only 14oz at that point, and although she had been eating cat food, it just wasn't enough for a baby needing to nurse, although we could not convince her to drink kitten formula out of a bottle. She was put on a special diet (exhausting! lol) and was able to come home. She is now fiesty (read, kinda bad, lol) and has grown alot. Her eyes are not blue anymore, she's approaching 2lbs, and her fur is shiny. She's a fighter, for sure! Here is Rio now, you'd never know she was about 10 minutes away from death a month ago! And, what better time for black cats then around Halloween?! :)
And, speaking of Halloween, we already have a pumpkin, because sweet Shiloh talked her Daddy into buying her one during our recent Wal-Mart trip.
Sorry I haven't been updating as much as normal, but I will do better! I kept forgetting to get batteries for my camera, but we have fixed that, so more posts will be on the way!
