A while back, I told everyone that we were not getting to settled up here in New York, and to stay tuned for an update. Well, I haven't meant to leave everyone hanging for months and months, but things change so quickly!

Before we left Savannah, Tyrone called me one day out of the blue and asked "How do you feel about Texas?" Texas?! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! Well, Tyrone had received orders that would have taken us to Ft. Hood, TX sometime between Feb. and April. I immediately started trying to see the good in it....we were going to be warm.....we'd be 3 hours away from Suzanne and my father-in-law.....only a couple more hours from Kristy (who I desperately want to meet in person!).....8 hours from my grandparents.

Tyrone, however, asked me to hold off on a post announcing the fact that only 4 months after moving from GA to NY, that we would be moving to TX. We did alot of soul searching and careful thinking, and Tyrone decided to re-enlist and add another 19 months on to his contract with the army.

Let me explain. When you "re-up", you get to choose where you are going to be stationed. We tossed around some pretty exotic places, even places on different continents. In the end, however, Tyrone decided he would ask to stay right where we are. There are several factors behind this decision, but some of the biggies are (1)the current state of the economy (2) we KNOW when his current unit will deploy again, so we don't run the risk of going somewhere else, only to be told that he has to deploy in a month (3) we have moved ALOT in the past few years, and the kids could really use the stability.

So, here we are, and here we will stay. I have to give Tyrone kudos on this...the army, while being something he's awesome at, is not his be-all, end-all goal. We have big plans for the future, and for becoming strictly civilian. However, he looked closely and carefully at our situation as a family and decided this was best for us. Not him, but us. I love this man.

I, for one, and very glad you get to stay! We will have much fun in the coming months...(ok, maybe we will have much fun after the snow goes away and there is heat! I'm beginning to think I'll just hibernate for the winter. I love snow, I hate cold!)

Wow! What a decision! It sounds like such wisdom. I didn't know you got to pick your duty station when you re-upped.

I've really enjoyed your snow pictures. Simply amazing to those of us who think two inches a real snow!

Shiloh's jumping video is just too cute.

AWWWWWWWMan!!!! You had me going there for a minute I thought you were going to say you were coming to Texas!!! And we would have been soooo close Bailey!!! Dangit!!!! It is cheaper to live here and it is warmer!!!! OK my fit is over!! But that would have been so nice to have you close so we could get to meet in person. And I could have hugged the kids and just smothered Shiloh in kisses!!!! But I am so happy that you are happy!!!! I love you.
