A while back, I told everyone that we were not getting to settled up here in New York, and to stay tuned for an update. Well, I haven't meant to leave everyone hanging for months and months, but things change so quickly!

Before we left Savannah, Tyrone called me one day out of the blue and asked "How do you feel about Texas?" Texas?! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! Well, Tyrone had received orders that would have taken us to Ft. Hood, TX sometime between Feb. and April. I immediately started trying to see the good in it....we were going to be warm.....we'd be 3 hours away from Suzanne and my father-in-law.....only a couple more hours from Kristy (who I desperately want to meet in person!).....8 hours from my grandparents.

Tyrone, however, asked me to hold off on a post announcing the fact that only 4 months after moving from GA to NY, that we would be moving to TX. We did alot of soul searching and careful thinking, and Tyrone decided to re-enlist and add another 19 months on to his contract with the army.

Let me explain. When you "re-up", you get to choose where you are going to be stationed. We tossed around some pretty exotic places, even places on different continents. In the end, however, Tyrone decided he would ask to stay right where we are. There are several factors behind this decision, but some of the biggies are (1)the current state of the economy (2) we KNOW when his current unit will deploy again, so we don't run the risk of going somewhere else, only to be told that he has to deploy in a month (3) we have moved ALOT in the past few years, and the kids could really use the stability.

So, here we are, and here we will stay. I have to give Tyrone kudos on this...the army, while being something he's awesome at, is not his be-all, end-all goal. We have big plans for the future, and for becoming strictly civilian. However, he looked closely and carefully at our situation as a family and decided this was best for us. Not him, but us. I love this man.

update on my oh-so-exciting jaw

I finished the steroids I was taking yesterday, and am S-L-O-W-L-Y shedding the horrible awful side effects they brought on. My family is thankful, as my mood swings were spectacular. I called my mother in tears, telling her I felt like I should put myself in the corner, b/c I felt so mean!

I can still not open my mouth, in fact I think that my range of motion for my jaw is a little worse then it was yesterday. I am in horrible pain, and have only managed to down coffee so far today. At night as soon as the kids are asleep, I take muscle relaxers, and that is the end of me until the next day. The constant pain is draining, and I hate that we are spending Tyrone's leave this way, nursing my poor jaw.

I don't go back to the oral surgeon until the 26th, when they will do impressions for a night guard for my mouth (apparently, I clench my teeth?). We will also schedule the MRI then. Tyrone is encouraging me to call my doctor tomorrow to see if there is something immediate we can do to treat my pain.

So, there you go, that's how I'm doing. Exciting, huh? :)

my most wonderful husband

Tonight, I made my world famous Spaghetti and Meatballs. (ok, maybe not WORLD famous...maybe more like just here in my house. details) Anyway, I made the spaghetti (or spag-noodles, as my husband likes to call them....) We all ate, and then I realized that before I could clean the kitchen, I had to give the small girl child a bath. Because, otherwise, she would go around and touch things, and she looked like this....

A little FYI about me, I like to get the kitchen clean IMMEDIATELY after eating. I don't like knowing it's in there waiting on me....the mess drives me NUTS! But, what was I going to do? I certainly didn't want miniature fingerprints decorating the lower half of my walls in the lovely shade of tomato!
So, up to the bathtub with little miss. Her bath is a little time-intensive, b/c, well, that 'fro takes some work! By the time she was clean, shiny, and had nicely combed hair, I was really dreading coming back down stairs to clean.
BUT....when I went in there, what did I find?! My kitchen was sparkling! The counters and stove were clean, the dishwasher was running....even the floors had recovered from 3 children eating "spag-noodles". Ok...well, Tyrone may have admitted letting the dog take care of the floors, but, hey, they're clean! A little dog drool never hurt anyone ;)
Thank you, wonderful husband!
