our girl

Our girl loves her gymnastics class! She begs to go every day, and is soooo excited when Thursday rolls around and I lay out a leotard for her to put on. She is also incredibly focused for the duration of the 45 minute class. The pics are definitely not the best, because they were taken from behind the parent's viewing windows.

Today, she practiced backwards somersaults...

Her very first somersault on the balance beam!

This was her first time on the big balance beam...

More practice on the little one!

And they did the bars today for the first time!

Shiloh is doing awesome and we are so proud of her! Also, I think that it would take an incredible amount of energy to teach gymnastics to 3 and 4 year olds! Kudos to our coaches!

shiloh is 3

Friday, September 10, 2010

On Thursday, Shiloh Isabelle turned 3! We did a full day of celebrating!

After getting the boys off to school, Shiloh first requested to watch "Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses." So we did! Then, it was off to her very first day of gymnastics. She was so very excited. This was as we were leaving...

And here we are at the gym. I was worried a little, because this class has some almost 5 year olds in it (it's the 3 and 4 year old class), but Shiloh listened to the directions and obeyed well, she held her own, and did a really good job!

Here she is, just about to summersault down the wedge thingy...

And practicing on the balance beam...

And ruunning back to her coach!

After that, she was exhausted and hungry. We picked her up a birthday happy meal and then it was naptime. After she woke up, we went to the playground with some friends and waited on the boys to get home from school. When they did, Dawn and Josh came over and had dinner, cake, and presents with us!
Dinner was up to Shiloh and she picked pancakes!

Then cake!

Then presents!

Then playtime!

It was a fantastic day for our fantastic girl. We are so glad she is ours to love!

first day of school

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

The boys are off to school! Gabe is officially a 1st grader, and Kaleb is at the top of the school as a 3rd grader! (Around here, the primary schools only go to 3rd grade.) They were so excited to go this morning, Kaleb could barely eat any breakfast. I wish I could follow them and make sure all goes well, but I know it will. They know the bus, they know this school, and we went to the open house last week so that they would know exactly where their classrooms are. They are even right across the hall from each other, so K can walk Gabe to his class.

I thought I would be excited for this day, but I'm really not. I thought that I would spend the entire summer so overwhelmed that I would welcome school with open arms. But, even though we all have our moments, by and large, we had a really awesome summer together. I found my groove as the sole parent in charge of 4 little people, and we all found what worked. We did lots of fun things, had lots of fun times. We made our own schedule and truly enjoyed being together.

But, all things end, and they did look so grown up, complete with their fresh hair cuts, this morning. And, there are things to look forward to. New friends, new experiences. And, the biggest one, Tyrone will be home before this school year is over. So, we will get on with it, since the passage of time doesn't ask for my permission, anyway!

Have a great year, boys!

8 months {e}

Friday, September 3, 2010

Our little Emmeline Lily turned 8 months old yesterday. She is doing so well! A light has come on for her and she is as mobile as she can be. She is outright crawling, climbing, and pulling up.
She is still a teeny girl, STILL wearing her 3-6 month clothes, and we still do not sleep throught the night.
I have been trying to introduce a sippy to her, but she truly thinks I've lost my mind. So we're going to keep working on that! Emme has, more than any of the other kids, shown me that she will "get there" with sleep, with feeding, etc. when she's ready, and not a moment sooner! So, I am determined to enjoy it with her, because one day, I will miss this.
Happy 8 months, Emmeline Lily!
