The boys are off to school! Gabe is officially a 1st grader, and Kaleb is at the top of the school as a 3rd grader! (Around here, the primary schools only go to 3rd grade.) They were so excited to go this morning, Kaleb could barely eat any breakfast. I wish I could follow them and make sure all goes well, but I know it will. They know the bus, they know this school, and we went to the open house last week so that they would know exactly where their classrooms are. They are even right across the hall from each other, so K can walk Gabe to his class.I thought I would be excited for this day, but I'm really not. I thought that I would spend the entire summer so overwhelmed that I would welcome school with open arms. But, even though we all have our moments, by and large, we had a really awesome summer together. I found my groove as the sole parent in charge of 4 little people, and we all found what worked. We did lots of fun things, had lots of fun times. We made our own schedule and truly enjoyed being together.
But, all things end, and they did look so grown up, complete with their fresh hair cuts, this morning. And, there are things to look forward to. New friends, new experiences. And, the biggest one, Tyrone will be home before this school year is over. So, we will get on with it, since the passage of time doesn't ask for my permission, anyway!
Have a great year, boys!
