We started the day VERY early, when I suppose that he just couldn't stand it anymore and woke me up. He heard the big kid's (high school) bus going by and just knew that he was missing out. So, we got up, and since we had extra time, he got to call Grandma (my mom) to tell her all about what he was going to do today. That was very special, since we've always shared EVERYTHING important with mom, and not being able to do that is the hardest thing about being away from Georgia.
Soon, we woke Gabe up, and they ate breakfast together, although Kaleb could barely get his down in between talking about all the things he planned to do at school. Not long after this, Tyrone made it back home in time to walk with us to the bus stop. We stood out there for a while (being the first day, the bus was running about 20 min. late), but we got to meet a couple of other kids who go to K's school and ride his bus. They were older than him, and had done this last year, which made me feel better. Their father assured me that they were very careful with the little kids, and introduced K to his children, so he had some people that he could follow.
Well, soon, the bus got there, and off my big boy went to his first day of Kindergarten. The only one with any reservations was me, he was ready to go, and didn't seem worried at all.
Our day without Kaleb was interesting. Gabe did well, and while he asked where Kaleb was several times through out the day, he did not seem concerned in the least. Really, Tyrone and I agreed that he seemed to be reveling in being the "only" for once. He was very well behaved, and it certainly was nice to have ready made one on one time with him.
When the time finally rolled around to go get Kaleb off the bus, we walked up to the bus stop and waited (and waited, and waited....) but, eventually, they made it. Kaleb started telling me about his day before he was off the bus steps and actually hasn't completely stopped yet!! It seems that he is in love with his school! So far, the highlights seem to be art time, recess (no suprise there!), lunch (they got pizza!), and a little girl name Kaylyn.
So, Kaleb had a blast, and is already ready for tomorrow! How did he get so big?!
Bright and early, and very excited!
Off to school!

Way, way, too cute! I still love my pictures of their first day off to school. (Joel,Kristin, and Sara that is). What an eventful week you all are going to have!!
ah, the joy of being a child! nothing like new notebooks, sharpened pencils, and fun lunchboxes. i love that he was up early and just wired to get moving. so cute! remind him of this when he enters the "i do not want to go to school" season of life. :) great pics! and how fun that you had good gabe-alone time. not too long and he'll be helping you with his new sister!
I loved it. Thank you so much for making sure that those of us who aren't there get to share in special days. Kaleb is so grown up now. Loved hearing about his day on the phone-nothing like a first hand account
Love
